The Late Dorothy King, affectionately known as "Madea", was born in Lela, Seminole County, Georgia, to the late Eddie Green and the late Ethel Green, on October 15, 1927. She was the eldest of six. Her sisters Rosie Green Grigley and Sarah Mae Green and brother Eddie Green Jr. preceded in death. Her earthly life came to a close at Donalsonville Hospital on June 2, 2020.
At an early age, she joined Oak City Missionary Baptist Church and was a faithful member. As a missionary, she was very soft-spoken and dynamic in her influence and in the way she lived and by the examples she set. When her health began to decline in her later years, she did not give up. She fought a good fight, and she kept the faith and stayed here ninety-two years.
Mrs. Dorothy, also known as "Madea", was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Her loving personality, spirit, jovial smile and caring heart made her a household name in Donalsonville, Georgia, as well as in the surrounding counties.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Lester Lee "Ollie" King. To this union seven children were born; three of whom–Willie C. King, Larry D. King and Evelyn J. Lee–preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories five children: Beulah Weaver of Donalsonville, GA, Samuel L. King Sr. (Alberta), Jerry L. King (Patricia), Ricky L. King (Tradean), all of Rochester, NY, and Remell Shuler (Thomas) of Orlando, FL; two daughters-in-law, Audrey King of Sanford, FL, and Norma King of Donalsonville, GA; two brothers, Hezekiah Green (Sarah) of Donalsonville, GA, and Otho Green (Vivan) of Saint Petersburg, FL; one sister-in-law, Johnnie B. West of Orlando, FL; two brothers-in-law, Charles King of Tampa, FL, and Kenneth King (Louise) of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
All of the family and friends loved her dearly and will cherish her memories. They will forever miss her.
