Elix Houston Jones, son of the late Mr. Sanders Jones, Sr. and the late Mrs. Katie Mae Rainey Jones, was born September 6, 1939, in Miller County, Georgia. He was one of ten siblings.
Being reared in a God-fearing home, Brother Elix joined Little Zion Freewill Baptist Church in Miller County at an early age, serving as an Usher for many years. His early education experiences were received in Miller County.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Cora L. Moore on January 10, 1962. To their union was born one cherished daughter, Valeria.
Brother Elix loved farming. He spent some time working at the Peanut Mills in Colquitt and Bainbridge, Georgia, Miller County Hospital, and the Miller County Road Department from which he retired.
Brother Elix departed his earthly life on Saturday, May 20,2023, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama. He will surely be missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters: Essie B. Burr, Hazel L. Bess, Margie Reliford, and Tine Jones; and three brothers: Sanders Jones Jr., Connie C. Jones, and Leonard Jones.
He leaves to cherish fond memories his wife of sixty-one years, Cora L. Jones of Miller County, GA; his daughter, Valeria M. Bryant (Wayne Jr.) of Donalsonville, GA; two brothers, Willie Jones (Patricia) of Whitney, NJ, and Marleen Jones of Colquitt, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
