Jeannett (Williams) Godwin

Mother Jeannett Godwin was the fourth of twelve children born to the union of the late George and Rosa Lee Williams.  She was born on December 14, 1928, in Early County, Georgia.  She was affectionately known as “Momma”, “Madea”, “Mama Jeannett”, “Mother Godwin”, “Aunt Jeannett”, “Grandmother”, “Godmother” and many more.

Mother Godwin was a very warm-hearted, caring person who always met you with a smile.  She accepted CHRIST at an early age and joined Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church in Jakin, Georgia, where she served faithfully until death.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Clifton Godwin Sr. in 1950.  Through their union they was blessed with six children.

Mother Godwin received her GED from Seminole County Adult Education in 1989.   She had a passion for cooking and catering.  She was employed by Seminole County School System. 

She passed away peacefully late Saturday afternoon, November 2, 2024, in her home surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Clifton Godwin Sr., two children Ralph Leggett and Janice Godwin Wilson, and one grandchild Farrantay Pollard.

Mother Godwin leaves a legacy of love and precious memories to her five loving and devoted children Clifton Godwin Jr., Venson (Marie) Godwin, Veronica (Otis) Forbes, Mickell Godwin and Angela Godwin; daughter-in-law Evelyn Leggett; son-in-law Elder Billy Wilson; eight grandchildren Cheron Reynolds, Jennifer Godwin, Alegra Leggett, Andrea Godwin, Faythe Pollard, Ronnie Reeves, Gabriel Wilson and Amerie Hawkins; nine great grands Kennedi Covin, Keion Covin, Jai’Keem Davidson, Ja’Mari Davidson, Ma’Kai Reeves, Kelahni Pollard, Kendall Pollard, Ashtyn Wilson and Khloe Wilson; two sisters Alean McDonald and Diana (Edward) Howard; sister-in-law Helen (Jerry) Jefferson; brother-in-law Robert Robinson; eight bonus kids Steven Lewis, Carla Halliburton, Elza Rea Jones, Betty Taylor, Pastor Percy Leggett Jr., Zollie Buggs Sr., Pastor Brenda Williams and Quinton Carnegie Sr.; six godchildren Ederick Womack, Calvin Jones, Nina Clary, Kar’Tavis Roberts, Sentravin Baker and Passion Halliburton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
