Leroy Thomas

Mr. Leroy Thomas was born August 14 ,1944 to the parentage of Edgar Thomas and Pinell Baxter Thomas in Gordon, Alabama. Leroy was the third child born to this union.

Leroy Thomas departed this life into eternity on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at his home in Donalsonville, Georgia.

He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Gordon, Alabama, where he remained an active member until his death.

He attended Philadelphia School in Gordon, Alabama. He began working for Chattahoochee Railroad at the age of 19 years old. He worked there for 10 years, then began to work for CSX Railroad Transportation for thirty plus years until he retired. Leroy was a collector of many things and he was a people person and always enjoyed talking to people and meeting new people.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents: Edgar Thomas and Pinell Thomas; his brothers: Willie J. Thomas and Terry Thomas.

Leroy was united in marriage to Dorthy Brannon Thomas for forty-five years; through this union they raised a son, Jamie Brannon, Sr. and a stepdaughter, Annie Doris Lundy and a grandson, Jamie Brannon, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Dorthy Thomas; his son: Jamie (Torries) Brannon, Sr.; stepdaughter:  Annie Doris Lundy; his brothers: Arthur (Minnie) Thomas, Bascom, Florida, C.J. (Irena) Thomas, St. Petersburg, Florida, Willie (Brenda) Collins, Dothan, Alabama; his sisters: Ruby Jackson, Betty (Allen) Ray, Lorra Ann Thomas all of Gordon, Alabama, and Linda (Jessie) Brown, Dothan, Alabama; aunts: Edna Smith, Gordon, Alabama, Christina Hall, St. Petersburg, Florida, Clara Baxter, Ashford, Alabama, Lula Baxter, Malone, Florida; sister-in-law: Elinda Thomas, Dothan, AL; brother-in-law: Peter Miller, Tallahassee, Florida; special love ones: Victor Kimble, Angie Kimble, Dena Smith; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; special cousins: Clare Mae Brown and Mary Alica Caine.
