Lorene Hopson

Lorene Sims Hopson was born on January 22, 1934, in Marianna, Florida, to the late Maggie Tanner Powell and J. Z. Sims.  She was the oldest of five siblings.  Lorene married the late Leroy Hopson Sr. in 1953.  She departed her earthly life on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, in the emergency room of Donalsonville Hospital in Donalsonville, Georgia.  

She leaves, to cherish her sweet memories one daughter, Dianne Hopson Daniels of Donalsonville, Georgia; three sons:  Carlis Hopson of Donalsonville, Georgia, Daron Keith Hopson (Marilyn), and Leroy Hopson, Jr. (Harriette), both of Houston, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Betty Ann Hopson of Houston, Texas; one sister, Frances Jones of Marianna, Florida; and one brother, WIllie Frank Maybon (Betty) of Marianna, Florida.  Our beloved Lorene also leaves behind a loving host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, plus a loving family tree that loved and adored her, as well as friends and people in her community that will remember her loving-kindness.

In addition to her husband and parents, those who preceded Lorene in death were her stepfather Othia Powell; sister Gladys Collier; brother Othia Lee Powell Jr.; four daughters Angela Daniels, Deborah Virgin, Geneva Smith and Lizzie Holiday; three sons Herman Frank Hopson, Tommy Hopson and Jerry Hopson; and two grandsons Leroy Hopson III and Adam Anthony Fedd.
