M. L. Johnson, son of Jessy Johnson and Ollie Geams, was born on August 9, 1938, in Donalsonville, Georgia. He was joined in marriage to Jerry Lee McKinney at a young age and had been in that marital union for fifty-three years. He was not an active member of any denomination, but he believed in and served GOD in his own way.
Mr. M. L. Johnson, affectionately known as “Kidd”, was no stranger to anyone. He was the “King of Cool”, and he loved to dance. He had a great sense of humor and always wanted to make others laugh, which he always did with his many stories. Each story was more colorful than the last. He also loved to hunt; his favorite targets were rabbits, squirrels and quails. Many didn’t know, but he was very industrious with a hand for sewing and gardening. We will all miss him, and life will not be the same. However, we can always smile when we think of him and his jokes. He was a good son, dad, granddad, uncle, brother and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and three sisters.
On Thursday, January 6, 2022, he fell asleep in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory his two daughters, Kathereen and Linda J. Johnson, both of Iron City, GA; one son, Eddie Wayne Johnson of Iron City, GA; one stepson, Eddie “Buddy” Greene (the late Annie Green) of Iron City, GA; four granddaughters: Latranda R. Brown, Ureka Scott (Frederick), Sckerra Johnson Gonzalez (Milo), and Katrivia Johnson; two grandsons: Quinton Johnson and Roman L. Cull, Jr.; one step-grandson, Willie Green; three great granddaughters; two great grandsons; one great-great grandson; one sister-in-law, Odessa Johnson (the late Willie) of Bainbridge, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
