Nicy Orange Life and Time

Nicy Lee Orange was born on February 19, 1938, to the late Ed Brown and Celan Orange.  GOD accepted her into Eternal Rest on February 9, 2025, at 86 years young.

Born and raised in Jakin, Georgia, she became an active member of Newberry African Methodist Episcopal Church in her early years of life.  She later relocated to Cocoa, Florida, where she began harvesting in the orange groves and caring for her elder relatives.

She was known by many as “Aunt Niza”.  She was a woman of great character and well-known in the community for her kind heart, her fun personality, and her southern hospitality.  She dedicated much of her life to helping and taking care of elderly family members and children in the community.  She enjoyed fishing, cooking, and harvesting her own fruits and vegetables.  Nicy attracted many in the community with her home-cooked Sunday meals, which included  fried chicken, fried corn, collard greens, chitterlings and rice, homemade buttermilk biscuits, and peach tarts.

Nicy’s presence will indeed be missed.  She was preceded in death by her three brothers Otis Donalson, Scrapp Fedd, and John Brown; sister Annie Jean Nesby; and grandson Bobby Germaine Wilson Jr.

She leaves to cherish precious memories her only surviving sibling, Christene Jones of Los Angeles, CA; two daughters and one son:  Shelia Wilson of Donalsonville, GA, Otis Orange of Stone Mountain, GA, Layrisha Orange (Major) of Donalsonville, GA; twelve grandchildren:  Kelvin Wilson (Yolanda) of Kinsey, AL, LaTeefah Wilson of Atlanta, GA, Cecilia Wilson of Bainbridge, GA, Jamal Orange, Jokquez Orange, Odejia Orange, all of Marianna, FL, Dwayne Orange, Alona Fedd, both of Donalsonville, GA, Alonza Fedd of Anchorage, AK, Ahmad Orange, Shamar Orange, both of West Palm Beach, FL, and Cherish Orange of Fort Pierce, FL; four great grandchildren:  Shyheim Wilson, Bobbi Rainey, both of Bainbridge, GA, Khylen Ramer of Donalsonville, GA, and Audeci Orange of Marianna, FL; a special niece/bonus daughter, Gloria Nesby (Donald Benjamin) of Gulfport, MS; a special nephew/bonus son, Randy Jones of Seattle, WA; and a host of additional nieces and nephews whom she cherished.
