Odessa Smith was born in Donalsonville, Georgia, on August 26, 1947, to Frank and Ada Lee Smith.
She departed this earthly life to move to her Eternal Home in Heaven on May 7, 2024, at her residence with her beloved son and daughter-in-law.
She was loved and respected by many. Odessa accepted CHRIST at an early age and joined Freewill Baptist Church, where she was a member for many years. She attended the public schools of Seminole County—the place she called home her entire life. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. Some of her fondest memories included Friday night fish fries, weekend BBQs, Sunday dinners, and road trips to South Florida to enjoy the family reunions.
Odessa was so understanding and easy to talk to, because she always viewed her family through the lens of love. She was preceded in death by her oldest sister Gwendolyn Williams.
The gift of her life leaves loving memories to be cherished by her loving devoted son and daughter-n-law, Ervin and Janet Smith of Donalsonville, Georgia; grandsons, Edwardo Freeman (Latrice) of Niceville, Florida, and Ervin Smith Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia; granddaughter, Marquita Butler of Fairburn, Georgia; great grandchildren: Chasity, Christopher and Carmen Freeman of Niceville, Florida, and Gabrielle and Giselle Butler of Fairburn, Georgia; brothers: Willie Frank Smith of Hinesville, Georgia, Christopher Smith of Miami, Florida, Ralph Smith of Atlanta, Georgia, Dennis Smith, Hubert Smith, and Donnie Ray Smith, all Donalsonville; sisters: Mavis Jones of Miami, Florida, Tija Smith of Atlanta, Georgia, Rosetta Hutchinson of Donalsonville, Easter Bouie (Johnnie), and Allena Smith, both of Bainbridge, Georgia; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to GOD! HE gives us the victory through our LORD JESUS CHRIST. 1 Corinthians 15:55-5
