Reverend George E. Wilson, the only child of the late Jessie Baxter and Willie Lee Hicks, was born December 15, 1928, in Jakin, Early County, Georgia. Being a native of Jakin, he attended public school at Carver High School and joined Midway Missionary Baptist Church.
During his lifetime, George E. Wilson was employed in many occupations. His skills included working as a sharecropper, a lumberjack and a construction worker. He was a jack of all trades.
Brother Wilson was ordained into the Ministry on October 2, 1997, by the late Reverend W. E. McMillian.
In 2012 he moved to Cocoa, Florida, with his daughter, Lawanda Carroll. After moving there, he joined Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church and attended until his health failed.
Reverend George E. Wilson departed from this earthly place on Sunday, December 18, 2017 at Rockledge Regional Medical Center in Rockledge, Florida.
Reverend George E. Wilson leaves to cherish his memories six sons: George Wilson Jr. (Debra) of St. Louis, MO, Billy Wilson (Janice), Jerry Wilson, Charles Wilson, all of Donalsonville, GA, Lougene Wilson (Tina) of Germany, and Jimmy Wilson (Amy) of Dothan, AL; seven daughters: Joyce Ann Miller (Walter) of Jacksonville, FL, Patricia W. Thomas of Atlanta, GA, Dorothy Wilson of Macon, GA, Jackie Williams, Deborah Wiggens, and Lawanda Carroll (Edgar) of Cocoa, FL; thirty-six grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; special friends, Mary L. Wilson and Shirley L. Wilson.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Freddy Wilson and Bobby Wilson; one daughter, Donella Wilson; a companion, Lois Fedd; and a first cousin, Louise Fedd.
