Ezzie Donalson Jr. was the son of Reverend Ezzie and Sister Irene Donalson. He was born on June 5, 1935, in Jakin, Georgia.
Ezzie received his education in the schools of Early County, Georgia, graduating Early County High School in 1952. He was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Aretha Virgin on August 6, 1961, and to this union were born six children. They enjoyed fifty-one years of marriage together until Aretha’s demise in 2013.
Ezzie confessed CHRIST at an early age and became a member of Mount Pisgah African Methodist Episcopal Church in Jakin, Georgia. He served faithfully at Mount Pisgah until he accepted his Call into the Ministry, following in his father’s footsteps and becoming a second generation preacher. Throughout his ministerial journey, Reverend Donalson pastored several churches, including Mount Pisgah AME, Saint Luke AME in Leary, Georgia; Atoc AME in Dawson, Georgia; Saint John AME in Donalsonville; and Saint James Missionary Baptist in Jakin. He showed care and concern for all of his flocks.
Ezzie worked at Georgia Pacific Plywood Mills in Cedar Springs, Georgia, until it was shutdown. He was a hardworking, dependable and kind employee. He touched many people’s lives on his job.
Ezzie was also a pillar of his community. He enjoyed farming and was the community barber. He departed his earthly life to go Home and live with THE LORD on Thursday, January 7, 2021.
He leaves to cherish his memory five children: Gregg Pitts (Leddy) of Anderson, SC, Regina Copeland, Ronald Donalson, both of Donalsonville, GA, Earnie Donalson of Jakin, GA, and Ezzie T. Donalson III (Arrica) of Dothan, AL; twelve grandchildren; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.
