Sister Sarah Cheatem Green was born April 3, 1942, in Columbia, Alabama to the parentage of the Late Mr. Will and Mrs. Sarah Cheatem. On Friday, May 5, 2017, Sister Green’s earthly tabernacle dissolved, and she transitioned to another home not made by hands, eternal in the heavens.
She loved her LORD and knew one day that HE would call her from labor to reward, so she instructed her daughter not to put any shoes on her when she was called because she wanted to walk around Heaven in her bare feet.
Sister Green had a relationship with THE LORD, and as a teenager she joined the Midway Missionary Baptist Church in Jakin, Georgia and was a faithful member there until she moved away to Florida. She later connected with the Star Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in West Park, Florida. Even when her health began to fail her and even after spending over ten months in a coma, she awakened yet to declare that her trust and hope were still in THE LORD. In her flesh she was weak, but she had a willing spirit. In March she traveled to Colquitt, Georgia with family to attend the homegoing celebration of her oldest brother, Reverend Isaiah Cheatem; but GOD had greater plans.
Sister Green took great pride in her Christian walk and in being a mother of four, a grandmother of eight, a precious sibling, a cherished aunt, a loyal friend and just a loving person. She was always willing to lend others a hand and spent many years caring for others in the nursing field.
Sister Green lived a wonderful life and leaves to cherish her memory three beautiful children: Sarah Jane Rogers, Calvin Rogers (Latonya), and Ortavier Chaqunna Perry, all of Fort Lauderdale, FL. One daughter, Debra Rogers, preceded her in death. Also remembering her legacy are eight grandchildren: Dontay Taylor, Khambrel Brown, Jay Rogers, Calvin Rogers Jr., Kaneshia Rogers, Keshona Rogers, Reggie Whitfield, and Darius Allen; two great grands, Little Calvin Rogers III and Ca’Miyah Rogers; two sisters, Mary Russell (Jim) of Colquitt, GA and Rev. Kathleen Johnson of Hollywood, FL; one brother, Willie Cheatem of Donalsonville, GA; a godsister, Eula Orange of Fort Lauderdale, FL; along with special loved ones, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Rogers; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.
