Wilbert Lucas Holton was born in Bascom, Florida on November 22, 1923 to the late Etta V. Holton and Clifford L. Holton Sr. He joined Mount Shiloh African Methodist Episcopal Church in Bascom at an early age.
In 1955, he moved to Brooklyn, New York and was employed at Rochdale Village in Queens, New York. He retired in 1985.
In 1986, Wilbert moved to Donalsonville, Georgia to be near his brother and sister, John and Vivian. His favorite hobbies were gardening, cooking and spending time with family. He was a devoted brother and uncle and enjoyed his friends.
Wilbert departed this earthly life on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Wesley Manor in Dothan, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his siblings—two sisters, Ozia M. Sorey and Vivian V. Johnson, and four brothers: Willie Holton, John W. Holton, Clifford Holton Jr., and Mack Ira Holton.
Wilbert leaves to cherish his memories two dedicated nieces whom cared for him in his convalescent years, Mattie L. Buggs and Gloria A. Johnson; a nephew whom was like a little brother, Frank T. Dicken; special nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews; caregivers: Patrick Tuner, Francis Quaid, Regina Thomas, and entire staff of Sander Hall of Wesley Manor in Dothan, Alabama; and loving friends.
